2020 is an important year for Operation Clean Sweep, objective Zero Pellet Loss in Terneuzen. Terneuzen is an important port for the plastics industry. It is the location of several global players active in plastics. They operate in several segments, including the production, distribution and recycling of plastic materials.

TRINSEO also commissioned an OCTRON blow-off facility in late 2020. The counter in Terneuzen now stands at 3 OCTRON tunnels. An OCTRON blow-off installation blows residual pellets off trucks, after filling, before they drive onto the road.
CYAGO NV is proud and happy with the good realisation and high customer satisfaction of this project at Trinseo. This project is an important step forward for CYAGO, as we not only provided the blow-off package, but also took care of the civil preparation and technical construction. For this installation, a quieter version was chosen, as the tunnel is close to the offices. With the help of rain sensors, wet conditions are now also taken into account. CYAGO also provides annual maintenance.
Why an OCTRON?
This tunnel prevents the loss of plastic pellets into the environment. Before a filled truck leaves the site, it is blown pellet-free through this OCTRON blow-off unit. The main objective is clear: no pellets should end up in the environment.

The tunnel prevents loss of pellets and ensures that they can be recycled. Due to their small size and light weight, these pellets can be easily carried by the wind. Blowing off is done in a tunnel via several blowing nozzles. The plastic pellets thus do not end up in nature and the truck leaves the site grain-free.

TRINSEO thereby supports its commitment to the global OCS programme. Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) is a global initiative by the plastics industry to prevent pelletised plastic particles from entering the environment at all stages of the plastic value chain: production, handling, transportation, transformation and recycling.
Plastics zijn waardevol, maar ze mogen niet in het milieu terechtkomen.
From transportation to production, in various ways and in collaboration with the entire value chain, efforts are made to prevent pellet loss; through investments, procedures and training of employees and contractors. With this move, the company has invested in a more sustainable future, namely the purchase of this unique OCTRON Pellet Tunnel, aimed at protecting the environment and avoiding microplastics in nature.
